frequently asked questions

Whether you have regular eye tests or not, we have put together a list of questions to help answer any queries you may have.

On average, we would recommend that you get your eyes tested every two years unless you notice any changes in your eyes or vision.

If you have any concerns regarding your child’s sight, you can get them tested at any time. We would however usually recommend their first eye test when they reach 4 years old.

Our standard eye tests are much more comprehensive than a standard test. As an independent opticians practice, we can take our time to really understand you, your vision and your eyes and combine 9 tests within one so we get the most information we can about your current eye health. This allows us to predict and monitor any issues. An Eden Eyecare eye test therefore takes around 30-40 minutes.

Our standard eye tests are around twice as long as a standard NHS test and include nine advanced tests and techniques to ensure the best possible care for you and your eyes. Our tests are priced at £90.

There are multiple ways you can book your appointment with us. You can call us on 01768 895454 email us, book online or simply pop into practice and we’ll be happy to arrange a time to suit your schedule.

If you have any previous glasses or prescriptions that were not recorded by us, it would be highly beneficial to bring these with you, but don’t worry if that isn’t possible.

If you notice any changes in your eyes, your first port of call should always be the optician rather than the doctor. Eyes are our speciality! We can take a detailed record and offer advice, treatments and solutions. We are also lucky enough to have a resident Optometrist who specialises in emergency eye care and can diagnose and direct you elsewhere if need be.

Yes, we would triage you via a call and follow optical guidelines for when you are seen depending on symptoms. See our emergency eyecare page for more details.

We made the decision to become a private practice as of 1st November 2023. At Eden Eyecare, our primary goal has always been to provide the best possible care for our patients and by becoming a private practice, we are able to maintain the highest clinical standards in eyecare. This transition has allowed us to invest in the latest technology and equipment therefore ensuring that we can offer you the most advanced and comprehensive eye examinations available.

If you can’t find what you’re looking for, please do contact us and we’ll do our best to help in any way we can. We look forward to welcoming you to our Penrith practice soon and caring for you and your eyes.
